Artist Wendy McCarty to Show Recent Paintings of Minnesota and India

St. Paul, MN, October 21, 2003

“Listen to the Voice of the Heart”, a show of 25 oil paintings by St. Paul artist Wendy McCarty will be on view at Lowertown’s Black Dog Coffee & Wine Gallery from November 1st–29th. Ms. McCarty will be on hand to discuss her landscapes, still lifes and portraits at the opening reception Friday, November 7th from 6-9:30pm.

The artist recently returned from her second plein-air (outdoor) painting trip to India. The show will include several canvasses painted in the Maharashtra region, intermingled with images of the gardens, countryside and people of Minnesota. Ms. McCarty studied painting at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and rounded out her education in New York and Aix en Provence, France. For the past 20 years she has travelled extensively in pursuit of her art, while maintaining a studio in the Lowertown district.

Like many of her contemporaries, the painter has embraced the internet as a place for showing and selling artwork. Her recently redesigned web site can be viewed at http://www.wsmccarty.com. In addition to the paintings on view, the site includes an artist’s statement and press page with downloadable print quality pictures for media use as well.

Wendy McCarty’s paintings will be available for purchase at her Black Dog Coffee and Wine Gallery exhibition. The gallery is located on the corner of 4th and Broadway, (308 Prince St.) in St. Paul.
